Description
Ajman (عجمان) is the smallest of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates, a compact coastal city just north of Sharjah on the Arabian Gulf. It is best known for its long Corniche promenade, the Ajman Museum housed in an 18th-century fort, and the restored courtyards and coral-and-gypsum buildings of its Heritage District. The Al Zorah Nature Reserve protects a mangrove lagoon on the northern edge of the city, drawing flamingos and migratory birds within sight of new waterfront development. Quieter and considerably more affordable than its larger neighbours, Ajman offers an easygoing, low-key introduction to Emirati coastal life.
