Al Ain (العين) is a green oasis city in the inland reaches of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, near the border with Oman, and one of the most important historic centers of the United Arab Emirates. The city is known for its extensive date palm groves, traditional falaj irrigation systems, and thousands of years of settlement history, reflected in the UNESCO-listed Cultural Sites of Al Ain. Highlights include Al Ain Oasis, the imposing Al Jahili Fort, and Jebel Hafeet, which rises dramatically from the surrounding desert and offers sweeping views across the region. Archaeological sites such as Hili and the Bronze Age tombs around Jebel Hafeet bear witness to the early settlement of the Arabian Peninsula.
