Description
Isabela runs along the northwest coast where limestone cliffs meet open Atlantic, and the surf here is heavier and less sheltered than anywhere else on the island. Jobos Beach is the centre of it, a bay with a reef break at one end and calm water at the other. Just along the cliff a collapsed sea cave called the Pozo de Jacinto blows spray upward when the swell is running. Behind the coast the Guajataca forest covers karst hills riddled with sinkholes, and an abandoned railway tunnel from the sugar era opens onto the shore.
