Fajardo
Puerto Rico · 10 m
Description
Fajardo is the boating town of the east coast and the place most day trips to the offshore cays leave from, with one of the largest marinas in the Caribbean at Puerto del Rey. Laguna Grande behind the town is one of three bioluminescent bays on the island, reached by kayak through a mangrove channel so narrow the branches close overhead. On the headland the Cabezas de San Juan reserve gathers seven ecosystems around a Spanish lighthouse. The ferries to Vieques and Culebra run from Ceiba, a short drive south.
