Short description of Caravela
Caravela lies at the far northern edge of the archipelago and is visited almost entirely by anglers, who come for the deep water off its western side and for the channels between the outer islands. Anglers sleep on the small private islets close by rather than on the big island itself. Beaches run long and empty along the whole north shore, with sandbanks appearing offshore at low water. Villages further inland farm rice and cashew and see very few outsiders. Boats over from the ferry island take a good couple of hours in decent weather.
