Short description of Buba
Buba sits on a deep inlet of the Rio Grande about halfway down the country and is the base for a group of freshwater lakes inland that hold hippos, crocodiles and enormous numbers of waterbirds. The lakes fill in the rains and shrink through the dry season, which concentrates everything around them and makes late winter the time to come. The town itself is quite small and has only a few basic places to stay. Fishing boats work the deep inlet for tarpon. The roads here are among the better ones anywhere in the country.
