Description
Bwabwata National Park lies in northeastern Namibia and is defined by the river landscapes, floodplains, and open woodlands of the lush Zambezi Region. Situated between the Okavango and Kwando rivers, the park is known for its large elephant and buffalo populations, hippos, Nile crocodiles, rare African wild dogs, and exceptionally diverse birdlife, with more than 400 recorded species. As part of the transboundary Kavango-Zambezi Conservation Area, Bwabwata forms an important wildlife corridor between Angola, Botswana, and Namibia. A distinctive feature is its community-based conservation model, with local communities living within the park and participating in its sustainable management. Game drives and boat trips on the Okavango and Kwando offer memorable opportunities to experience its abundant wildlife and remarkably water-rich landscapes.
