Description
Sosúa is a lively coastal town on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, known for its sheltered bay with sandy beaches, clear turquoise waters, and offshore coral reefs. The town combines Caribbean beach life with excellent opportunities for swimming, snorkeling, and diving, as well as diverse dining, nightlife, and an international atmosphere. Sosúa also has a remarkable history dating back to 1940, when hundreds of Jewish refugees from Europe settled here, leaving a legacy preserved by a synagogue and a small museum. Its proximity to the water sports hub of Cabarete and the historic port city of Puerto Plata also makes Sosúa a convenient base for exploring the Dominican Republic’s north coast.
