Description

Boca Chica is a popular seaside resort on the southern coast of the Dominican Republic, around 30 kilometers east of Santo Domingo. The town is known for its gently sloping sandy beach and reef-protected lagoon with calm, warm, turquoise waters. Boca Chica combines Caribbean beach life with a lively, distinctly Dominican atmosphere of restaurants, beach bars, music, and local cuisine. Especially on weekends, it is a popular escape for residents of the capital, while the nearby La Caleta Underwater National Park offers coral reefs and shipwrecks for excellent diving. Its proximity to Santo Domingo makes Boca Chica one of the best-known and most accessible beach destinations in the region.
