Description
Saona (Isla Saona) is a tropical island off the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic and part of the protected Cotubanamá National Park. The Caribbean island is known for its white-sand beaches, coconut palms, and clear turquoise waters, as well as its natural shallow-water pools and sandbanks where starfish can be found. Saona combines largely unspoiled coastal landscapes with rich biodiversity and the small village of Mano Juan, while its importance as a nesting site for sea turtles adds to its ecological significance. One of the country’s best-known natural attractions and excursion destinations, the island is considered the epitome of a tropical Caribbean paradise.
