The Silkeborg Lake District (Søhøjlandet) is Denmark's largest lake and forest region, located in the heart of Jutland. It is renowned for its numerous glacial lakes, gently wooded hills, and the Gudenå, the country's longest river. Among its best-known attractions are the scenic viewpoint of Himmelbjerget with its distinctive observation tower, Museum Silkeborg, home to the famous Tollund Man, and the historic paddle steamer Hjejlen, which has been sailing the lakes since 1861. An extensive network of hiking trails, cycling routes, and waterways also makes the region one of Denmark's premier destinations for canoeing, kayaking, and outdoor recreation.
