Frederiksborg Castle (Frederiksborg Slot) is Denmark's most important Renaissance castle and one of Scandinavia's most impressive historic landmarks. Built on three small islands in an artificial lake in Hillerød, the castle is renowned for its red brick façades, copper-clad towers, and ornate gables. Commissioned by King Christian IV in the early 17th century, Frederiksborg now houses the Museum of National History, featuring one of Denmark's finest collections of historical portraits. Highlights include the magnificent Castle Chapel, the grand Great Hall, and the beautifully restored Baroque Gardens. Frederiksborg Castle is considered one of Denmark's most iconic and visited attractions.
