Description
Sainte-Anne occupies the southern tip of Martinique and is the beach town of the island, a low village of pastel houses around a church square with market stalls under the trees. Ten minutes south lie the Salines, a kilometre of white sand under coconut palms backed by a salt pond and a petrified savanna of dry cactus scrub, and it is the beach every Martiniquais names first. Anse Meunier and Anse Trabaud are quieter and reached on foot. Boats run out to the sandbanks and the reef off the point. The village is half an hour from the airport.
