Description
Les Anses-d'Arlet is a string of small bays on the quiet Caribbean coast, and the postcard of Martinique is taken here, looking down the wooden jetty of Grande Anse to the church steeple at the far end of the sand. Green turtles graze the seagrass off the village and can be swum with from the beach, which is why the snorkelling here is the best on the island. Anse Dufour and Anse Noire lie over the hill, one pale and one black, reached by a steep path between them. Fishing boats still work from all three. The three bays lie twenty minutes apart by road.
