Description
Le Marin sits at the head of a long sheltered inlet and holds one of the largest yacht harbours in the Caribbean, so most charters in the eastern islands begin at its pontoons. The town itself is small, with an eighteenth-century church of dressed stone and a chandlery quarter that keeps the fleet running. Beyond the marina the mangroves of the bay are paddled by kayak, and the Sainte-Anne road passes salt ponds full of waders. Restaurants along the waterfront cook for crews rather than for tour buses. The inlet is the safest hurricane shelter on the island.
