Description
Norman Island lies at the southern end of the British Virgin Islands chain and has no residents, no road and no scheduled boat, only wild goats on its hillsides. It is said to be the island Stevenson had in mind for Treasure Island, a claim the place has never troubled to prove. Three sea caves cut into the cliff at Treasure Point on its western side and are snorkelled straight from a dinghy, which is why almost every day sail from Tortola stops here. The Bight behind them is a wide calm anchorage with a beach bar ashore and a floating one moored offshore.
