Golden Sands
Bulgaria · Northern Black Sea · 10 m
Description
Golden Sands (Златни пясъци) is the largest resort on the northern Black Sea coast, a solid wall of hotels standing directly behind three and a half kilometres of wide, gently shelving sand. It is a package-holiday destination first and foremost, with waterslides, beach bars and a nightlife strip that runs until dawn in season. The forested hills of a nature park rise immediately behind the resort and keep the development to one narrow band. The cliff monastery of Aladzha, cut into the rock in the same park, is the one historic sight within walking distance. Almost nothing here is walkable beyond the strip itself.
