Bansko (Банско) is the busiest ski resort in Bulgaria, a stone-built town at the foot of the Pirin range whose gondola climbs from the edge of the old quarter to a bowl of runs above two thousand metres. The season is long and the prices are a fraction of the Alps, which fills the town with skiers from across Europe.
