Golden Bay

Malta · Northern Region · 5 m

Description

Golden Bay (Ir-Ramla tal-Mixquqa) is one of Malta’s best-known sandy beaches, situated along the island’s scenic northwest coast. The broad, golden-colored bay is surrounded by low cliffs and dunes, standing out from Malta’s predominantly rocky coastline. Its sandy shore and gently sloping seabed make it especially popular with swimmers and families, while the open Mediterranean provides a striking backdrop. Above the neighboring Għajn Tuffieħa Bay stands the historic Għajn Tuffieħa Tower, built in 1637 to monitor the coast and warn of approaching ships. Together with Għajn Tuffieħa and nearby Ġnejna Bay, Golden Bay forms one of the most attractive coastal areas in northwestern Malta. Facing west toward the open sea, the bay is particularly picturesque at sunset.
