El Valle de Antón, Panama

El Valle de Antón

Panama · Coclé · 600 m

Description

El Valle de Antón, usually known simply as “El Valle”, is a picturesque mountain town nestled within the lush caldera of a long-extinct volcano. Set at around 600 metres above sea level and just a few hours from Panama City, the town is known for its pleasantly mild climate, forested ridges, waterfalls and thermal springs. Its landmarks include the distinctive silhouette of La India Dormida, the rare Panamanian golden frog, unusual “square trees” and a lively market selling handicrafts and local produce. Combining dramatic volcanic scenery with tropical nature, hiking trails and a relaxed rural atmosphere, El Valle is one of Panama’s most popular mountain and nature destinations.
