Description
Druskininkai is the spa town of Lithuania, set in pine forest on the Nemunas near the Belarusian and Polish borders, and has been treating people with its salt springs since the early nineteenth century. Soviet era sanatoria still stand alongside new water parks and a snow arena with an indoor ski slope that runs all year. Grūtas Park a few kilometres out gathers Lenin and Stalin statues removed from Lithuanian towns after 1991 into a wooded open air collection that argues about how to remember them.
