Short description of Dapaong
Dapaong is the last town of any size before Burkina Faso, a dry season market centre for the far north that most travellers see only from a passing vehicle. Its own market draws farmers and traders from villages on both sides of a border that has become considerably harder to treat casually in recent years. A scatter of Tamberma style villages nearby get a fraction of the visitors that Koutammakou does, mostly because almost nobody comes this far north at all now. Security conditions near the border should be checked before planning to travel here.
