Short description of Aného
Aného was the country's capital before Lomé took over, and its faded German and French administrative buildings still stand along streets that have otherwise slowed down considerably since then. The real reason people come is Glidji next door, where the Guin people hold an annual new year gathering set by the priests rather than the calendar, drawing crowds from across the region. Outside that one event the whole town is quiet, with a beach and old cemeteries that see very little traffic. The Benin border itself is only a short drive further east from here.
