Barú Volcano National Park (Parque Nacional Volcán Barú) is home to the 3,475-meter-high Volcán Barú, Panama’s highest mountain and one of the country’s most impressive natural landscapes. The national park is known for its dense montane and cloud forests, remarkable biodiversity, and sweeping views from the summit, where both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea can be seen in exceptionally clear conditions. One of its highlights is the Sendero Los Quetzales, a renowned cloud forest trail and one of Panama’s best places to spot the resplendent quetzal in the wild. Challenging mountain hikes, pristine forests, and its unique setting around Panama’s highest volcano make the park one of the country’s most rewarding nature destinations.
