Travel to the Marshall Islands
The Marshall Islands are a remote nation of twenty nine coral atolls and five islands in the central Pacific, most of them barely above sea level. Majuro, the capital atoll, is the gateway, with lagoon beaches and the Alele Museum on traditional navigation and stick charts.
Bikini Atoll, site of American nuclear tests, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a legendary wreck dive for technical divers with the aircraft carrier Saratoga, reached only on rare liveaboard trips. Arno and other outer atolls offer village life, fishing and snorkelling in pristine lagoons, reached by small boats or planes.
