Travel to Nauru
Nauru is the third smallest country in the world, a single raised coral island in the central Pacific that can be driven around in about half an hour. Decades of phosphate mining have left the interior as a landscape of jagged limestone pinnacles known as Topside.
A ring road links the coastal villages, Anibare Bay offers the best beach, and Buada Lagoon is a quiet inland lake surrounded by palms. Few tourists visit, which makes the island an unusual stop for travellers collecting countries.
