Description
Arno lies an hour by boat east of Majuro and is the easiest escape from the capital in the Marshall Islands. The atoll strings one hundred and thirty three palm covered islands along a single reef, fringed with white sand on the ocean side and shelving into a lagoon on the other. The coral is healthy and the outer wall drops away steeply, which makes for diving and snorkelling that nobody else is on. Villages live from copra and fishing, homestays take the occasional visitor, and there is no hotel. Boats leave from the Majuro side in the morning and come back the same evening, so most people see Arno as a long day out.
