Travel to the Northern Mariana Islands
The Northern Mariana Islands are a United States commonwealth in the western Pacific, with Saipan, Tinian and Rota as the main inhabited islands. Saipan offers the Grotto, a flooded cavern loved by divers, the white sand of Managaha Island and moving Second World War memorials such as Banzai Cliff and Suicide Cliff.
Tinian was the base from which the atomic bombs were flown to Japan in 1945, and its old runways and bomb pits can still be visited. Rota is the quietest island, with limestone cliffs, caves and clear water.
