Description
Villarrica is a tranquil town on the western shore of Lake Villarrica in Chile's Araucanía Region. Overlooked by the snow-capped Villarrica Volcano, it combines a relaxed atmosphere with the spectacular scenery of the Chilean Lake District. The town is known for its lakeside promenade, black volcanic-sand beaches, and strong Mapuche cultural heritage, reflected in its museums, handicrafts, and local traditions. With easy access to Villarrica National Park, natural hot springs, hiking trails, and horseback riding, Villarrica is an excellent base for exploring the region's outdoor attractions. Compared with neighboring Pucón, it offers a quieter, more authentic experience while providing convenient access to the same natural highlights.
