Central Valley, Chile

Central Valley

Chile · Central Chile · 200 m

Description

The Central Valley (Valle Central) is the fertile heart of Chile and the country's most important wine-producing region. Stretching between the Andes and the Chilean Coastal Range, it extends from the Maipo Valley south of Santiago through the valleys of Cachapoal and Curicó to the Maule Region. The Central Valley is renowned for its historic wineries, world-class wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère, and the old Carignan vines of the Maule Valley. Beyond its vineyards, the region is shaped by traditional haciendas, huasos, rodeos, and leisurely asados that reflect Chile's rural heritage. With the historic mining town of Sewell, Radal Siete Tazas National Park, and Altos de Lircay National Reserve, the Central Valley also offers outstanding cultural and natural attractions. Its Mediterranean climate, rolling vineyard landscapes, and proximity to the Andes make it one of Chile's most diverse and rewarding travel destinations.
