Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia

Vieux Fort

Saint Lucia · 10 m

Description

Vieux Fort is the southern town of St. Lucia and holds Hewanorra, the airport every long haul flight lands at, which means most visitors pass through without stopping. Those who stay come for the wind. Anse de Sables faces southeast into a clean trade wind funnelled through the channel from St. Vincent and is the island’s kitesurfing and windsurfing beach. The Maria Islands offshore are a nature reserve holding a ground lizard and a snake found nowhere else on earth, and Cap Moule à Chique at the tip looks the whole way down to the next island.
