Anse La Raye, Saint Lucia

Anse La Raye

Saint Lucia · Anse la Raye · 5 m

Description

Anse La Raye is a fishing village on the west coast road between Marigot and Soufrière, a single line of small wooden houses along a grey sand bay with pirogues drawn up on it. Very little happens there in daylight. On Friday evening the seafront street closes and the village cooks, grilling whatever came in that day on oil drum barbecues down the middle of the road, and the Fish Fry pulls people from the whole island and every hotel on the west coast. The waterfall in the valley behind is the other reason to stop.
