Description
Tsavo is one of Kenya’s largest and most spectacular protected landscapes, comprising Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks. This vast wilderness is defined by dry savannas, bushland, vivid red soils, dramatic rock formations and volcanic terrain. Tsavo’s elephants are famous for covering themselves in the park’s red dust, giving them their distinctive reddish appearance. Tsavo West is known for the crystal-clear Mzima Springs and the dark volcanic landscape of Shetani Lava Flow, while Tsavo East impresses with Mudanda Rock and the immense Yatta Lava Flow. Together, the parks protect vital habitats for elephants, rhinos, lions, hippos, crocodiles and countless other species.
