Description
Lake Nakuru National Park in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley is known for its alkaline soda lake, abundant birdlife, and exceptional opportunities for rhino sightings. Once famous for vast flocks of flamingos, the lake still attracts large numbers of lesser and greater flamingos under favorable conditions, with populations fluctuating according to water levels and food availability. The park is home to both black and white rhinos, as well as the rare Rothschild’s giraffe, buffalo, zebras, and, with luck, leopards. Baboon Cliff offers sweeping views across the lake and surrounding acacia landscape. Part of the UNESCO-listed Kenya Lake System, the park fits naturally into itineraries through the Rift Valley and onward to the Maasai Mara.
