Țipova
Moldova · Rezina · 130 m
Description
Țipova is a monastery cut into the limestone wall above the Dniester, the largest cave complex of its kind in Moldova and one of the largest in eastern Europe. Cells, corridors and a church are hollowed out of the rock on several levels, the oldest part dating to around the sixth century and a second group to the eleventh. Local tradition puts the wedding of Stephen the Great here. A path drops from the plateau through a wooded gorge with a waterfall, then reaches the terrace and the river below.
