Purcari
Moldova · Ștefan Vodă · 90 m
Description
Purcari is the oldest wine estate in Moldova, founded in 1827 in the south east near the Dniester where the soil and the river climate suit Bordeaux varieties. Its Negru de Purcari took a gold medal in Paris in 1878 and the wine was later supplied to the British court, which the estate has never stopped mentioning. The manor and cellars have been restored with a hotel and a lake, and the estate works as a full day out from Chișinău rather than a stop.
