Short description of Tidjikja
Tidjikja is the capital of the Tagant, a palm oasis strung along a wadi in the middle of the country with an old stone quarter on one bank and the newer town on the other. It was founded as a date growing settlement and still is one, which makes the summer harvest the busiest time of its year despite the heat. Neolithic sites lie scattered out on the plateau all around it. The road here from the capital is long and the road on eastward is a good deal worse. Very few foreign travellers come through.
