Short description of Tichitt
Tichitt is the least visited of the four inscribed caravan towns and the most remarkable to look at, because its houses are built of flat stones laid in bands of green, pink and white that make patterns across every wall. The town sits under a low escarpment with the dunes of the Aoukar lying at its feet. Its population has fallen to a few hundred and much of the ksar is empty. Reaching it means a hard multi day drive from Tidjikja through a region under travel advisories, with no fuel and no help if anything breaks.
