Description
St Ouen's Bay is the long open sweep of Jersey's west coast, eight kilometres of sand backed by dunes and a single straight road. The Atlantic swell that reaches it makes this the island's surf coast, with schools and board hire strung along the beach at Le Braye and La Pulente. Behind the dunes the Les Mielles conservation area protects orchids, rare toads and the low ground where the potato fields meet the sand. The granite tower of La Rocco stands offshore in the middle of the bay. Sunsets draw a crowd here and the beach cafes stay open into the evening.
