Description
St Aubin is a harbour village on the western arm of St Aubin's Bay and was Jersey's main port before St Helier took the trade. Tall merchant houses built by privateers and cod traders rise straight from the quay, and behind them narrow lanes climb the hill in granite steps. The harbour empties twice a day and leaves the fishing boats leaning on the sand, with St Aubin's Fort standing on its own rock offshore. The old railway line along the bay is now a walking and cycling path that runs west to Corbière. The village is known for its terrace restaurants and its quiet evenings.
