Sorobon, Bonaire

Sorobon

Bonaire · Centro · 2 m

Description

Sorobon sits at the mouth of Lac Bay on the windward side, a shallow lagoon a kilometre and a half across where a reef arm keeps the water waist deep and flat while the trade wind blows straight across it. That combination is close to ideal for learning to windsurf and has made this one of the recognised freestyle training grounds in the world, with several world champions from an island of twenty thousand people. Behind the lagoon lies the largest mangrove stand in the Dutch Caribbean, paddled by kayak through cut channels.
