Description
Kralendijk is the capital of Bonaire and a town of about three thousand people, which tells you the scale of the island. The waterfront is a row of low ochre and pastel buildings along a bay that is itself a dive site, and the entire leeward coast has been a protected marine park since 1979, one of the first in the world. Yellow stones painted along the coast road mark the numbered shore dives, sixty of them, which is why most visitors here arrive with their own regulator and rent a pickup truck rather than a car.
