Description
Salt Cay has around sixty residents and looks much as it did when salt was raked here for the North American market, with the ponds, sluices and stone warehouses of that trade still laid out across the island and Bermudian houses of the 1830s along the shore. Golf carts and donkeys do the moving about. Between January and April humpback whales pass close inshore on their way to the Silver Bank and can be watched from the cliffs or swum with by boat. North Bay is a long empty beach on the windward side. The island is a triangle of about seven square kilometres.
