Description
Saint Martin's is the only coral island Bangladesh has, eight square kilometres of coconut palm and reef flat nine kilometres off the tip of the Teknaf peninsula, and locals call it Narikel Jinjira, the coconut island. Coral, turtles and reef fish were being lost to the crowds, so the island now opens only from November to January, with day visits alone in November, a nightly cap of two thousand in December and January, and tickets sold through one government portal. Chera Dwip at the southern end splits off at high tide. Around ten thousand people live on it and every drop of fresh water comes from wells.
