Description
Dhaka is one of the most densely populated cities on earth and moves on cycle rickshaws, of which it has several hundred thousand. Old Dhaka along the Buriganga holds what the Mughals left, the red Lalbagh Fort of 1678 that was never finished and the pink river palace of Ahsan Manzil built by the nawabs. Sadarghat below it is a launch terminal where hundreds of river ferries load at once, which is a sight in itself. Star Mosque is faced in broken china. The Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban is Louis Kahn's last work. The city carries roughly twenty million people in its metropolitan area.
