Description
Saint-François sits at the eastern end of Grande-Terre around a marina, with the island's only eighteen-hole golf course laid out behind it and a run of lagoon beaches protected by reef. Ten minutes further east the land narrows to the Pointe des Châteaux, where limestone stacks stand in the open Atlantic and a cross on the headland looks across to La Désirade. It is the most visited natural site in Guadeloupe. Ferries to La Désirade and Marie-Galante leave from the marina, and the surf beaches of the north coast begin at Anse Tarare. The marina is the eastern end of the island road.
