Le Gosier, Guadeloupe

Le Gosier

Guadeloupe · Grande-Terre · 20 m

Description

Le Gosier is the hotel strip of Guadeloupe, ten minutes east of the capital along a south coast of small sheltered coves with the island's densest run of restaurants and beach bars behind them. A tiny islet lies two hundred metres offshore with a lighthouse on it, swum to by the confident and reached by shuttle boat by everyone else. Fort Fleur d'Épée stands on the ridge above, an eighteenth-century French battery of cut stone with tunnels underneath and the whole bay in view. Nightlife here is the busiest on the island. The coast road runs east from the capital to Sainte-Anne.
