Rugova Valley

Description
Rugova is the valley running west from Peja into the Accursed Mountains, a limestone gorge twenty five kilometres long that opens out into high pasture and glacial cirques below peaks over two thousand five hundred metres. Shepherd settlements on the meadows are still used through the summer and some have opened as guesthouses. The Peaks of the Balkans trail crosses here on its circuit through Kosovo, Albania and Montenegro, one of the few long distance routes anywhere that needs three border permits.
