Description
Pristina is the capital of Kosovo and where nearly every visitor lands, a young city in every sense with a median age around thirty and a centre rebuilt largely since 1999. Mother Teresa Boulevard runs through the middle as a pedestrian spine lined with cafés. The National Library is the building people argue about, ninety nine domes over a concrete frame wrapped in metal mesh, regularly called one of the ugliest buildings in the world and defended just as regularly. Ottoman mosques and a hammam survive in the old quarter behind it.
