Finland · Lapland · 100 m
Description
Rovaniemi is the capital of Finnish Lapland and lies directly on the Arctic Circle. Widely regarded as the official hometown of Santa Claus, the city is best known for the Santa Claus Village, which attracts visitors from around the world throughout the year. At the same time, Rovaniemi serves as the main gateway to Finland's Arctic wilderness and is a popular base for experiences such as husky safaris, reindeer sleigh rides, snowmobile excursions, and Northern Lights viewing. With the Arktikum Museum, modern architecture, and close ties to Sámi culture, Rovaniemi combines Arctic nature, culture, and Nordic lifestyle. The region's remarkable seasonal contrasts, from the Midnight Sun in summer to the short daylight hours of winter, make it a distinctive destination in every season.
